| on what you are looking for. Everyone wants instant spool and awesome top end. Unfortuantely the two are contradictory without additional power adders such as nitrous. The bigger the turbo, the bigger the lag and the bigger the power. Torque is the fun factor when driving. The torque curve is an identical representation of how hard you are forced into the seat. If you want a car to feel fast, you are looking for torque. If you want a high MPH car, you are looking for horsepower. One thing to keep in mind is that it really isn't hard to make a Z32 produce unusable torque in terms of what you will be able to put to the ground with traction limitations. So this brings you back around to using a smaller turbo that gets spooled up quickly since having unusable high-RPM power is meaningless when you can bring it on much earlier with what you can actually put to the ground. Dee's car will spin 3rd gear at peak torque and he has some pretty meaty tires out back. It isn't until 4th gear that you can really appreciate how well the powerplant performs, at least on street tires. If he went with stickier street tires, he will have more fun at the expense of replacing tires more often. For the majority of people, I would say that something like the Sport530BB or the Z1 525R kit would be the best all-round solution. Both of those turbochargers get spooled up very qucikly and offer good top-end as well (the Z1 turbo actually offers a good bit more peak power with similar spool). For those that have already enjoyed that level of power for some time, they need more to satisfy their Jones. I wouldn't recommend someone to go from stock turbos right up to a powerhouse turbo setup. It is better (IMHO) to take your upgrades a step at a time and be sure to cover all your bases on the way up. It is a progression that one should enjoy over time with their Z - there is a lot to learn about the vehicle and the more knowledge you have about them, the greater the chances that you wont go out and either blow it up or wrap it around a telephone pole. One step at a time, I say.
